JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent applies knowledge of behavioral and social science theories, methods and techniques to the analysis of public health issues and formulation of policy or program development and evaluation.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Basic Qualifications for GS-101-12/13:
Applicants must have successfully completed a full four year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in behavior or social science; or related discipline appropriate to this position. OR Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Have four (4) years of appropriate experience that demonstrated acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavior or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Minimum Qualifications for GS-12: In addition to meeting the Basic Qualifications, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level of in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in developing, implementing and/or evaluating scientific and technical studies involving behavioral and social science aspects of public health. Minimum Qualifications for GS-13: In addition to meeting the Basic Qualifications, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level of in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in developing, implementing and evaluating behavioral or social science research or programs and publishing the results of this research in scientific journals. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
