This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), Atlanta, Ga.

DUTIES:
As a Public Health Advisor you will:
  • Serve as a senior public health advisor responsible for performing unusually difficult assignments that affect populations in local, state, Federal, and international settings or public health programs that require advanced occupational expertise and judgment to support complex program activities on a continuing and frequent basis.
  • Plan, develop, and implement public health programs.
  • Work to develop public health messages with subject matter experts and develop messages into appropriate end-products for communicating public health information to target audiences.
  • Research and analyze the causes of product problems (i.e., grants and contracts) that are caused by controversial, complex, and often conflicting factors.
  • Conduct assessments, compliance reviews and negotiate and approve corrective actions, as needed.
  • Review congressional and legislative actions; assess impact on public health program activities, initiatives, and policies; and initiate action accordingly.
  • Plans, implements, and presents training systems for health practitioners, researchers, and other professionals; conduct and assist in the development and delivery of training; and assist with special studies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications for GS-12: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in performing advisory work related to planning, development, implementation and evaluation of public health programs.

Minimum Qualifications for GS-13: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in leading, evaluating and providing technical assistance on public health programs.
