JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent serves as an advisory physician and liaison for public health intelligence health for all classified and unclassified intelligence regarding at the highest levels of national security clearance. As a Physician the employee provides advice on aspects of public health issues and reviews medical and public health intelligence documents. The work impacts national and international public health programs and/or the public health infrastructure.

DUTIES:
As a Physician, you will: Serve as a Physician and authority on matters involving the nexus of intelligence, national security, and public health, in the area of animal-human interface of diseases. Provide medical analytical information to CDC/HHS staff, the United States Intelligence Community (IC), and other state and federal agencies. Maintain an awareness of global health and medical intelligence issues. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of health threats in assigned areas of responsibility. Review literature to maintain current knowledge about measuring and evaluating public health capacity and performance at local, state and national levels.

REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Basic Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (external link); Association of American Medical Colleges (external link); Liaison Committee on Medical Education (external link); Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association (external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (external link), a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Minimum Qualifications: For GS-13: Three years of residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled or possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service to include servicing as authority on public health matters to include the nexus of intelligence, national security and public health in the area of laboratory sciences, infectious diseases, chemical and/or radiological national security issues. NOTE: A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association (external link), (AMA) or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) (external link). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
