This position is located in Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), Atlanta GA.

DUTIES:
As an Health Communication Officer you will:
  • Direct the development and implementation of comprehensive health, risk, and crisis communication and marketing programs.
  • Analyze context, situation, and environment to develop goals and objectives for Program-wide communication and marketing programs and projects that are integrated with Agency and CIO goals.
  • Provide coordination and quality assurance for all communication and marketing activities.
  • Ensure the use of sound research as the foundation for communication and marketing programs and projects, using the most current behavioral, communication, and marketing science-based applications.
  • Serve as an expert advisor on health communication and marketing research methods and projects.
  • Balance workload and provide advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of health communication and administrative issues.
  • Identify and set budget requirements, administer fiscal resources, and initiate requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies and space.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 level of difficulty and responsibility in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience providing leadership in the development and implementation of health communication and marketing programs and/or campaigns; and translating complex information into easy-to-understand health messages.

Documenting experience: In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.
