JOB SUMMARY:
This position is located in the Worklife Wellness Office, OSSAM at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia and is expected to direct the professional contributions of other counselors on staff as well as provide direct clinical counseling services to eligible CDC employee clients. This position requires knowledge, experience and expertise of managing Employee Assistance Program (EAP) professionals who are providing patient care to adolescent, adult and elderly patients to safeguard their health, safety and resiliency. Position is subject to "call back" on occasion and on-call is rotated with other EAP therapists in the clinic.

DUTIES:
As a Counseling Psychologist you will:
  • Provide employee counseling.
  • Provide mental health group training and/or facilitation support to programs and staff.
  • Respond to agency executive leadership during crisis.
  • Create a safe and therapeutic environment for clients.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of comprehensive and continuing counseling and mental health programs and project focused on the needs of the CDC workforce.
  • Provide written data and make proposals for program elements.
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid, current, unrestricted license to practice psychotherapy/counseling within the state of Georgia.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Basic Qualifications:
Degree: Satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include providing direct and comprehensive mental health counseling to individuals and groups and developing delivering seminars on mental health topics. Preferably, this experience includes work in agencies, corporations, or organizations.
